Crew member and staff awareness sessions

We use our personal experiences to inform participants about signs and symptoms to watch for and normalises mental illness as an extremely common yet very debilitating condition with profound effects on relationships, work and wellbeing. Destigmatising mental health issues is critical to reduce shame and secrecy which are barriers to taking action. Promoting next steps for those experiencing these challenges, and encouraging others to keep an eye out for their mates and families ensures people don’t continue to delay dealing with the conditions which often only worsen with time. Session topics include mental health, burnout, stress, relationships and wellbeing.

Duration up to one hour.

Leadership Training

Leaders struggle with both skills and confidence to manage individuals who are experiencing mental health challenges but at the same time, are highly aware of the impact that it has both on the individual, their co-workers and the business. Training and equipping leaders to effectively communicate with and manage those who are affected can reduce absenteeism, presenteeism, turnover and workers compensation claims. Staff with managers who are competent in this area experience lower rates of burnout and are able to recover while retaining their involvement in the workplace.

We can also assist leaders confidently navigate hard conversations, addressing performance, behaviour, or safety concerns, while upholding mental health compliance requirements. Our approach ensures leaders protect psychological safety, meet legislative obligations, and maintain trust and respect within their teams.

Duration half day.

Psychosocial Risk Assessments

At Industry Minds, we specialise in psychosocial risk assessments that go beyond ticking compliance boxes. With lived experience and industry knowledge, we understand the very real impact that workplace culture, leadership, and systems can have on mental health and wellbeing. Our approach is practical, evidence-based, and tailored to your environment, ensuring that risks are identified, controls are effective, and your organisation is prepared to meet both legislative requirements and workforce expectations.

We know that PCBUs aren’t mental health specialists — and you don’t need to be. What you do need is a clear, structured assessment process that gives you insight into psychosocial hazards, from workload demands to poor support systems, and how to address them. By combining professional expertise with a grounded understanding of industries such as mining, agriculture, and utilities, we provide assessments that are relatable, actionable, and sustainable. Our goal is to help organisations create safer, healthier workplaces where people can thrive.

Peer Support

Peer support utilising lived experience and lived expertise by a trained individual who has experienced serious mental ill health has been demonstrated to create rapid rapport and psychological safety for an individual who is experiencing first hand, the devastating impacts of chronic stress, burnout and mental ill-health. Peer Support specialists effectively normalise, destigmatise mental illness, work alongside staff to support their treatment and recovery and inspire hope. Peer support assists individuals to navigate the various systems, supports and interventions to find what works for them until they too become and expert in their own recovery.

At Industry Minds, we have designed and successfully implemented tailored Peer Support Programs that are adaptable across a range of industries. We take care to ensure the right people are in these roles through a structured interviewing process that identifies suitability, values alignment, and interpersonal strengths. Once in place, our program includes ongoing monitoring, supervision, and support for Peer Supporters, addressing any challenges that arise and ensuring they have the skills, resources, and confidence to provide effective, safe, and sustainable support.
